LG Chairman Urges Parents To Join Fight Against Polio

The Executive Chairman of Etsako Central Local Government Area, Hon. Solomon Obomighie has called on parents and guardians to join in the eradication of polio in the local government area.

Hon. Obomighie who was represented by the Vice Chairman, Hon. Fidelis Agbaza made the call while flagging off the Outbreak Response (OBR) and immunization campaign.

He expressed his appreciation for the hard work and dedication of the Primary Health Care (PHC) staff who have always been at the forefront in fighting against polio and other related diseases in the Local Government.

“Your significant contribution in providing health care services and raising the awareness about the importance of immunization have played a vital role in safeguarding the health and well-being of our people especially the children,” he said.

Hon. Obomighie further stated that OBR and immunization campaign is a critical initiative aimed at ensuring that every child in the Local Government receives the necessary vaccines to protect them from the devastating effects of Polio.

“By vaccinating our children, we are creating a safe and healthy environment for them to grow and thrive”, he added.

While calling on Community Heads and stakeholders for their support during the exercise by making their children available for immunization, the LG Chairman emphasized the importance of community involvement in the success of the exercise, as this would ensure that Polio is completely eradicated from the Local Government Area.

He further called on residents to join hands with the Primary Health Care Centres in fighting against polio in the communities.

The OBR and door to door immunization exercise is scheduled to hold from 15th to 19th of September across Churches and other locations in the Local Government.

High point of the event was the administration of the polio vaccine by the Chairman’s representative.

In attendance were the Secretary to the Local Government, Hon. John Oghiadomhe, village heads and stakeholders.
