Oba Ewuare II Suspend Palace Chief, Appoints Osaigbovo CPS

His Royal Majesty, Omo N’Oba N’Edo, Uku Akpolokpolor, Oba Ewuare II, the Oba of Benin Kingdom has suspended Chief James Okponmwense Ezomo (the Ezomo of Benin Kingdom) from Uzama N’Ihinron group.
In a press statement issued and signed by Secretary to the Benin Traditional Council, Frank Irabor made available to newsmen said, Chief Okponmwense Ezomo was suspended as a result of his anti-palace activities and maintained that the suspension forbids him from exercising any authority over Uzebu Community.
Part of the statement reads, “This is to inform the general public that Chief James Okponmwense Ezomo, the Ezomo of Benin Kingdom was suspended on 24th of January, 2022 by his group – Uzama N’Ihinron, headed by Chief Oliha of Benin Kingdom.
“His Suspension has been ratified by His Royal Majesty, Omo N’Oba N’Edo, Uku Akpolokpolor, Oba Ewuare II, the Oba of Benin Kingdom.
“Chief James Okponmwense Ezomo, the Ezomo of Benin is therefore
forbidden to exercise any authority over Uzebu Community. This is a
result of his anti-palace activities.”
In a related development, Edo State Correspondent of the Peoples’ Daily, who is also the Secretary of the Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, (NUJ), Edo State Council, Osaigbovo Iguobaro has been appointed as the Chief Press Secretary (CPS) to His Royal Majesty, Omo N’Oba N’Edo, Uku Akpolokpolor, Oba Ewuare II, the Oba of Benin Kingdom.
Meanwhile, the leadership of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Edo State Council has sent a message of felicitation to Mr. Osaigbovo Iguobaro on his appointment as Chief Press Secretary (CPS) to the Oba of Benin, His Royal Majesty, Oba Ewuare ll.
In a statement issued and signed by Comrades Festus Alenkhe and Andy Egbon, the Chairman and Secretary respectively described the appointment as a positive development for the Union.
While thanking Oba Ewuare ll for finding Osaigbovo Iguobaro worthy of the appointment the statement wished the new CPS to the Oba well in his new appointment.
It also urged him to be good ambassador of NUJ by bringing his wealth of experience to bear.
