Indigenes of Ayen Community in Uhunmwode Local Government Area of Edo State has denied the allegation of linking the duo of Aimienoho David and Joseph Edaiye who were recently arrested by the State Special Security Squad to any cult related activities in the state, saying that they never had any criminal dealings.
The indigenes which comprises elders and youths led by the Chief Priest (ohen okhuahe) of Ayen in a press statement made available to newsmen said David and Edaiye are gentlemen of good conduct.
He said the appointment of Joseph Ediae Imazagbonre as acting Okaighele was contained in a letter from the palace of Oba of Benin Kingdom dated 30th of April, 2025.
As sighted by The9JaTREND, some parts of the letter reads: “Ohen Okhuahe Adanegbe Nohuwa and four most senior elders of Ayen Community should pilot the affairs of Ayen village henceforth in trust for the Oba of Benin till further notice.
“One Oriakhi Enaruna, Stanley Henry aka ‘Extra’ have been arrested while Austine Idamudia aka ‘Obete’ is on the run but the SWAT Team of Force FCID Abuja is trailing him.
“Those currently causing crisis in the community are supporters of Prince Oriakhi Enaruna, and Stanley Henry ‘Extra’, shooting sporadically in the community, causing unrest.
“Amiolemen Ideh is not known by elders and people of Ayen Community and all his claims should be disregarded, he knows nothing about the Okaighele of Ayen”.
The Community Chief Priest alleged that the main reason for the current crisis is not far from every attempt by a ‘powerful’ officer, the Chief Security Officer to Edo State Government House who is doing everything to support this illegality with sinister move to protecting the parcel of land gifted to him by these individuals.
“The CSO has giving a matching order to one Saturday so as to make sure his biding is realized with caution to justice. CSO who is supposed to be a custodian of the law is supporting illegality because of landed property.
“We hereby appeal to Edo Sate Government and the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to come to our rescue and ensure that those involved are arrested and made to face the full wrath of the law, because some of them have been accused of various criminal offenses,” the Chief Priest added.
