The Executive Chairman of Edo State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Mrs. Ozavize Salami has visited Akoko-Edo local government area of Edo State to mobilize voters for the September 21, 2024 governorship election in the State.

The SUBEB Chairman who was in Akoko-Edo on Saturday, 8th June 2024, to intimate citizens and party faithfuls on numerous laudable programmes of the Obaseki-led administration in Edo State, used the event to set in motion the launching of “Edo is BETTER with AiO2…”, a political movement with acronym; B- Boosting, E -.Educational, T – Transformation, T – Through, E – Empowerment and R – Resources.

Mrs. Salami, a veteran grassroots mobilizer, stormed Akoko-Edo with lots of palliatives to put smiles on the faces of indigenes across Wards 1 and 2 of the local government area with more to cover all wards emphasized on “Edo is BETTER with AiO2”, as a state-wide political campaign initiative launched to mobilize voters to ensure total victory of Dr. Asue Ighodalo and Barr. Osarodion Ogie and the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the September 21 governorship election.

She was supported by the Deputy Governor, His Excellency, Engr Omobayo Godwins Marvellous and the Executive Chairman of Akoko-Edo Local Government Council, Hon. Tajudeen Alade Esq.

The event, which took place at the Multipurpose Hall Igarra, headquarters of Akoko-Edo local government area, boasted of a gathering of over 800 people including women from all the 10 wards of the local government, teachers, and parents and was honoured by PDP stalwarts and dignitaries.

Mrs. Salami, who was received by a teeming crowd amidst fanfare thanked party faithfuls who came out en masse to honour her.

“Edo State has set the pace as far as governance and basic education is concerned in Nigeria with many States already emulating the standard being set by Edo State,” she remarked.

The SUBEB Chairman hailed the Executive Governor of Edo State, Mr. Godwin Obaseki who has remembered Akoko-Edo and urged party faithfuls to vote continuity.

While enumerating the gains recorded by Edo State SUBEB under her leadership, Mrs. Salami added that primary school teachers in Edo State now use modern methods of teaching through provisions of innovative learning materials for pupils. She commended the most workers friendly governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki for prompt payment of workers’ salaries and for being the first Governor in Nigeria to pay civil servants the previous N40,000 and current N70,000 minimum wage.

On his part, the NUT Chairman, Mr. Bernard Ajobiewe, declared that teachers in Akoko-Edo are well pleased with the way the state government has handled the welfare of teachers in the state. “We shall continue to support Governor Godwin Obaseki-led administration to break new grounds,” he said.

Present at the event were the Hon. Commissioner, Social Development and Gender Issues, Christabel Ekwu, Edo North Senatorial Vice Chairman, People’s Democratic Party, Hon. Chief Shegun Saiki; Hon. Momoh Andrew Ojo, Deputy Director-General, PDP Campaign Council; LGA Chairman of PDP, Prince Kayode Ogunnubi and LGA Vice Chairman of PDP, Madam Bose Ojo a.k.a Lady B.

Others are the Special Adviser to the Executive Governor of Edo State, Mrs. P. O. Balogun; Mr. Adeku Akande, LGA Party Secretary, Hon. Jeffery Obasanmi, LGA PDP Campaign Coordinator; Hon. (Dr) Peter Ologun, Special Adviser to the Executive Chairman of Akoko-Edo; Pastor Bayo Ogedengbe, Mr. Onaivi Ojo-Ashipa, Hon. Fatai Maliki, Commander Ibukun Dongo, Mrs. Ugbesia, LGA Vice-Chairman, Hon. Abukare Beatrice; the Secretary, Hon. Omo Yamah. State Chairman, Nigerian Union of Teachers (NUT), amongst others to lend support to the Executive Chairman of SUBEB.

Indeed, Igarra stood still and massively turned up in demonstration of love and admiration of an elated SUBEB chief, dignitaries, party loyalists and the organizers.
