By Simeon OSAJIE
A teenager reported died after an alleged overdose of drugs on Thursday, 7th April, 2023 at Okuku Street, at back of Winners’ Chapel, Ovwian, in Udu Local Government Area of Delta State.
Report indicated that the incident happened at the deceased friend’s house, named Samuel at about 2.00 pm in the afternoon and that he died of an overdose of tramadol.
A young girl in the area, who gave her name as Jane, said that she usually referred to the deceased as ‘Bros’.
Jane stated that on the said day, before the incident, a man fondly called Uncle Sam, sent someone to buy drugs which Samuel and his friend (bros) took.
She said that after that, Samuel went to play ball in a nearby field but did not stay long, and that on getting to the house, he saw his friend (the deceased) lying unconscious, adding that the deceased was confirmed dead by a nurse in the neighborhood.
A neighbour, who pleaded anonymity, said that she knew that it would come to this, alleging that the way Samuel and his friends took drugs and misbehaved was way too much for any sane person.
Effort to get more details from the Superintendent of Police, Ovwian Division, Mr Ayodele kunle was futile.
However, the incident was confirmed by the Police Public Relations officer of Delta State Command, Mr Edafe Bright.
At the time of filling this report, the accused, Samuel was still in custody at the Ovwian Police Station.
