…lauds Tinubu’s economic policies
By Simeon OSAJIE
The Chairman of Edo State chapter of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Dr. Tony Aziegbemi has slammed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for surrounding himself with people he (Aziegbemi) described as ‘crooks and criminals.’
In an interactive with newsmen in Benin City, Edo State, Dr. Aziegbemi advised President Tinubu to try and get such people to take the back seat so that the government is not tainted with bad image.
According to him, “President Tinubu should be wary of surrounding himself with people he called a strong man that he has ceded some government functions to; that’s what President Putin did in Russia; he almost burnt his fingers.”
He however gave a pass mark to President Tinubu for the two economic policies made so far since assumption of office.
Dr Aziegbemi listed the economic policies as the removal of the fuel subsidy and that on the foreign exchange rate.
He disclosed that appreciating the policies of a government from an opposition party is a paradigm shift the PDP has embraced.
According to him, from the policies, the federal government can save up to N2trillion for the nation.
He disclosed that the nation’s economy would have been grounded if the economic policies were not introduced.
At a stage, he said that the revenue accruing to the nation could not service its debt, not to talk of paying salaries.
He however expressed worry on how well the money saved; courtesy of the policies could be well channelled to provide palliatives for Nigerians.
