We Have No Regret Impeaching Dep. Gov. Shaibu

Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly (EDHA), Rt. Hon. Blessing Agbebaku, has said that the house has no regret for impeaching the state former deputy governor, Comrade Philip Shaibu.
Agbebaku disclosed this while giving journalists the break down of achievements of the House in one year.
Recall that Comrade Philip Shaibu was impeached in the month of April, 2924 following the adoption of the report of the 7-man Investigative Panel set up by the Assembly to probe allegations of misconduct leveled against him.
According to Agbebaku, the House followed due process in removing the former deputy governor, Philip Shaibu.
“To me, I will stand tall to say it is a good record because we are doing our legislative duty.
“And that shows that the 8th Assembly is very independent. I also want to state clearly that the processes of impeachment were followed to the letter,” he said.
While also reacting to the question of the suspensions of the three lawmakers, Speaker Agbebaku said whatever that their constituencies are lacking due to their absence in the house, is the price they needed to pay for their misbehaviour.
“In every organization, you have rules and regulations. If you are saying that their constituencies are no longer represented, that is the price they pay for being disobedient or for beginning to disobey the rules of where they work.
“That is the price you pay when you go contrary to the house rules but what I will say, is that, a committee is being set up to look into their issues.
“So, in the next three weeks, the committee will submit their report and then from there, we now know the next line of action to take”, Agbebaku added.
While reeling out the achievements of the house in the year under review, Speaker Agbebaku said that the house made over 44 resolutions that has helped it achieved monumental success and 16 bills.
He said though the house was confronted with some challenges but with love and team spirit, the problems were surmounted.
He thanked the State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki for his support in the year under review just as he promised that the house will always champion laws that will be of a greater benefits to the people of the state.
