Cleric Vows To Continue Hunt For Alleged Killer Of Late Daughter

The leader of the Shiites Muslim Community in Edo State, Alhaji Zakari Tajudeen says, there can never be forgiveness for one Collins Igbinigie who allegedly impregnated his daughter which culminated in her death six years ago.
Speaking at the Friday Jumat prayer service last week, Alhaji Tajudern said his heart still bleeds with pain and anger over the tragic death of his only daughter and vowed vengeance for the infidel whose amorous relationship with his daughter led to her early demise.
“I urge all you faithful of Allah, not to relent until the infidel who killed my daughter is brought to justice. Allah permits us to seek vengeance for the death of a Muslim. We must continue to look out for that infidel wherever he may be and as long as it may take to hunt him down”, he told the frenzy crowd already fired up by his fiery sermon at the open air Jumat prayer service.
Our reporter gathered that the genesis of Alhaji Tajudeen’s anger dates back to October 5, 2014 when his daughter died after miscarriage.
His daughter Fatima, a Muslim, was said to be in a complicated relationship with one Collins Igbinigie who comes from a Christian family. “That was unacceptable as Islam forbids Muslims from having conjugal relationship with non- Muslims”, the Chief Imam of Igun Mosque, Alhaji Giwa- Osagie told our reporter in a telephone interview.
As expectedly, Alhaji Tajudeen was said to have kicked against his daughter marrying a non – Muslim. “But inspite of his stern warnings, the girl continues to meet the boy and eventually got pregnant. That was a hard pill for the cleric to swallow. He was mad at his daughter and her so-called boyfriend “, a source at Aduwawa Mosque told our reporter.
But the issue became complicated as the girl was said to have a miscarriage and died in the process. Some persons who were aware of the tragic death of the girl on October 5, 2014, said her father tried to force her to abort the pregnancy. Some say the girl fell while fleeing from her father on that fateful day.
“After she fell while running away from her visibly angry father, she started bleeding from her private part. She was taken to the hospital but unfortunately, she didn’t survive”, our sources said.
The9JaTREND learnt that the news of her death sparked off violence as some angry Muslim youths sought vengeance. The family home of the girl’s boyfriend on Constain Road was set ablaze. The police were called in, but before they arrived, the damage had been done.
Six years after that tragic incident, the building is still lying in ruins while the father of the girl continues to harbour animosity and vengeance.
Some residents in the area said Collins’ parents passed away some years before the incident, adding that he was virtually alone in the house. They say that the young man had not been seen since the house was burnt down. “We believe he is in hiding as the police had declared him wanted six years ago.”
