Benin Solidarity Movement (BSM) worldwide has reacted to certain claim by some individuals who recently address press conference at Edo State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) that there is a community called Ubiaza in Benin Kingdom.
According to Ambassador Elder Curtis Ugbo, president of the Movement, “to the best of our knowledge, there is no Community called Ubiaza in Benin Kingdom.”
The statement reads, “BSM’s grouse is not with the media engagement rather we are not comfortable with their claim that they are from Ubiaza. To the best of our knowledge there is no community called Ubiaza in Benin Kingdom.
“As a matter of urgent public importance they should come out to speak on the authority that created the community under the Benin Traditional Council (BTC) law; As the President of the Benin Solidarity Movement BSM Worldwide and also the Private Debt and Land Recovery Agent to the Oba of Benin KINGDOM, to the best of my knowledge, there is no Community called Ubiaza in Benin Kingdom.
“BSM would use this opportunity to advice the media men that, in line with the ethics of their profession, they should henceforth verify from the Benin Traditional Council(BTC) before publishing or airing news involving communities in the Edo South district.
“Information meant for public consumption had better be verified before jumping into conclusion which at the end of the day can lead to chaos if not handled cautiously,” the statement opined.
