Edo Govt Warns Staff To Desist From Hawking Merchandise During Working Hours

Edo State government warned civil servants in the state to desist from all forms of hawking of merchandise in all Government Offices in line with the provisions of CSR 04313.

In a statement which emanated from the office of the Head of Service, issued and signed by P. E. Aziegbemhin (Mrs), Permanent Secretary General Services said that any officer found flouting this Rule shall be sanctioned in line with the extant Rules and Regulations.

Parts of the statement reads, “PROHIBITION OF HAWKING OF MERCHANDISE IN AND AROUND GOVERNMENT OFFICES:

“It has been observed that some Staff have formed the habit of engaging in hawking of merchandise in and around Government offices during office hours

“This action contradicts the provisions of the Edo State Civil Services Rules (Revised to 1st Jonuary, 2000), Rule 04313 (Officers are prohibited from hawking merchandise or engaging in any other form of trading on office premises during working hours).

“Flowing from the above, l am directed to inform all Heads of Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) of Government’s directive to warn their Staff to desist from all forms of hawking of merchandise in all Government Offices in line with the provisions of CSR 04313.

“Any Officer found flouting this Rule shall be Sanctioned in line with the extant Rules and Regulations,

“Please bring the contents of this Circular to the attention of all Staff for guidance and compliance.”
