NUJ Members To Enjoy Free Medical Tests, Foreign Trips, Says Comrade Alenkhe

Members of the Edo State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) are to enjoy Free Medical Tests and Foreign Trips.
The chairman, Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Edo State Council, Comrade Festus Alenkhe stated this today in Benin city when he received the leadership and members of the Edo Broadcasting Service (EBS) of the Nigeria Union of Journalists.
Comrade Alenkhe said members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists in Edo State would be given three days free medical test scheduled for August 26, 27 and 28, 2022.
While noting that he takes members’ welfare paramount, the chairman said this was to reduce death rates among members and to ensure they are in sound health while go about their professional jobs on daily basis.
Comrade Alenkhe who said arrangement had been perfected with Edo State Ministry of Health for the three days free medical tests, noted that journalists work under pressure as a result of the demand of the profession.
He said medical doctors of international standard are coming to the press centre to carry out different tests on journalists in Edo state, adding that, after the test, those that need more medical attention would be referred to relevant medical facilities.
Speaking on other activities mapped out for members of the union, the Edo NUJ Chairman said, arrangement have been perfected to take members who have shown interest on foreign trips to the United States of America and Germany.
He said during his electioneering campaign, one of his promises was to take journalists on foreign tour.
Comrade Alenkhe said arrangement was made with the Nigeria Immigration Service in Edo State for a quick International Passport processing, adding that, all members that applied have gotten their International Passports.
Earlier, chairman of the EBS Chapel of the NUJ, Comrade Oliver Ijiogbe, lauded the Edo journalists Chairman, Comrade Festus Alenkhe for the unprecedented work done at the union secretariat within the short period of time he assumed office.
While expressing his chapel commitment to supporting the chairman and his executive, Comrade Ijiogbe pleaded with the Council’s Chairman who incidentanly is from the EBS Chapel to show him the model he applied in achieving such giant strides within the short time so he can replicate such in his chapel.
Various leaders of the Edo State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists were present during the visit.
