Edo NUJ Felicitates With Chris Isiguzo On His Emergence As CAJ President

The leadership and members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Edo State Council has felicitated with the NUJ President, Comrade Chris Isiguzo’s emergence as President, Congress of Africa Journalists (CAJ).

The Governing Council of the Congress in a meeting held online on Wednesday, 21st September, 2022 unanimously voted to elect the NUJ President as it next leader.

It would be recalled that the NUJ on the 23” June, 2020 hosted a meeting online of some African countries where CAJ was launched to address the issues affecting journalists on the Continent, promote shared values and uphold The Declaration of Principles on Freedom of Expression and Access to Information in Africa. CAJ was formally registered in Kenya and the headquarters is located in Nairobi.

In a press statement issued and signed by Comrade Festus Alenkhe and Comrade Andy Egbon, State Chairman and Secretary of Edo NUJ respectively stated that the President of NUJ deserve nothing less, considering the positive developments his tenure as NUJ President has brought to the Union.

Part of the statement read a, “We in Edo NUJ are happy and proud to identify with Mr. president on this auspicious occasion.

“Our prayer is for God Almighty to guide you in the right direction and give you the wisdom and understanding to lead CAJ to an enviable height.”
