Merit Newspaper Management Commiserates With Alenkhe Over Mother’s Demise

The Management Board of Merit Newspaper has sympathized with the Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, (NUJ), Edo State Council and Manager, News and Current Affairs, Edo Broadcasting Service (EBS), Comrade Festus Alenkhe (JP) and family over the demise of his beloved mother, Madam Rose Akuogbe Alenkhe.

It would recalled that Comrade Alenkhe’s mother’s passage was announced through a statement from the Council’s Secretary, Mr. Andy Egbon.

The statement said the Late Madam Alenkhe aged 76 passed away in the early hours of Monday November 7 after a brief illness.

Speaking on behalf of Management, the Chairman Editorial Board, Comrade Godwin Eigbe, said they were visiting the family to commiserate with them noting that they equally shared in the grief and loss.

The Board’s message read in part; “On behalf of the Staff and Management of Merit Newspaper and by extension the Merit Chapel of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) Edo State Chapter, we write to convey our heartfelt condolences to you and the entire Alenkhe family over the passing unto glory of your beloved mother, Madam Rose Akuogbe Alenkhe.


“It is indeed a huge loss but we are consoled by the fact that she lived a worthy life and raised children like yourself, Comrade Festus Alenkhe (JP), the viable and capable State Chairman of Edo State Council of the Nigerian Union of Journalists.”

Responding on behalf of the family, the eldest son of the family, Comrade Festus Alenkhe, thanked the management board for the visit.

He said it is painful but God has chosen to call Mama at this point and to God alone be the glory.

He seized the opportunity to also inform the Merit Management Board that the burial programme has been planned to run from Wednesday 7th December 2022 to Sunday 11th December 2022.

The group prayed for the repose of late Madam Rose Akuogbe Alenkhe’s soul and also for the family she left behind.
