Make Continuous Voters Registration Functional, Neda Imasuen Urges INEC

Edo South Senatorial Candidate for Labour Party (LP) in the forthcoming election, Barr. Neda Imasuen has called on the Independent National Electoral Commission, (INEC) to, as a matter of urgent public interest and sustainable democratic principles, make the continuous Voters Registration exercise functional.
Imasuen made this view known in Benin City while addressing guests at the maiden edition of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), NTA Benin Chapel lecture series.
According to Labour Party senatorial candidate, the election umpire should endeavor to make voter registration a non stop affairs and not a seasonal thing as being presently done.
“INEC should make the continuous voter registration functional by ensuring that the agency continues registering eligible voters without stopping.The current CVR is only seasonal, which makes it difficult to call it continuous,” he said.
On security matters on election day, Barr. Neda Imasuen challenged the police to come out bold to show the world “what they have done in the past to curb vote buying.”
Barr. Imasuen who served as a Senior Legislative Aide at the National Assembly had in another fora assured that his presence in the Senate courtesy of being elected in the forthcoming election will withnessed functional bills that will addressed the ills of the society.
According to him, “I have been in the senate for seven years now and as a senior legislative aide, my duties include preparation of bills, motions, running the office.
“I have a lot of experience to bring in and there were some bills that the president didn’t sign that I know when l emerged victorious and sworn in as a senator, I’ll bring those bills back up.
“For example, one of them is to eliminate age barriers of employment seekers. Often times they tell us some persons are too old to be employed. How old are these persons? They’re 31, 32, 33. We need to cover those loopholes. I’ll dust that bill again.”
Other dignitaries at the event include Mr. Dantawaye Miller, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Operations, Edo State Command, who delivered a lecture on behalf of former Inspector General of Police Solomon Arase, representatives of other security agencies, INEC, NOA, civil society organizations, etc.
