Group Drums Support For Oshiomhole As Senate President, Others

As the leadership position of the 10th Senate gathers momentum, a group under the aegis of ‘Edo Like Minds’ has joined the fray of supporters for the Senate President to be bestowed on the former governor of Edo State and former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Comrade Adam Aliu Oshiomhole.
The Group with over 4,000 members both from the State and Diaspora declared their support after an eleborate meeting in Benin City, on Friday, 5th May, 2023.
They also announced their support for Prof. Oserhiemen Osunbor, former governor of the State to be nominated and confirmed as a Federal Minister representing Edo State.
In the same vein, the Group announced its support for the present Minister for State, Budget and Planning, Prince Clement Ikanade Agba to be the governorship candidate of the APC in the 2024 governorship election in Edo State.
Spokesperson of the Group, Lord Amen Osunde said their support for the former governor, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole is as a result of his loyalty to the party, and the synergy between him and the President-elect; Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu which will be of immense benefit to the people of Edo State.
“Coupled with his track records in the State as a governor who remain second to non; he worked tirelessly for the success of the party and was able to deliver 25% for the President-elect, two senators, seven House of Representatives and nine State House of Assembly members; a feat which others also jostling for the Senate Presidency can not equal,” he said.
On Prof. Oserhiemen Osunbor, the Group asserts he remains a force to reckon with in Edo State having been a Governor and two times Senator who introduced instalment payment of tax convenience for the people, and utility vehicles for civil servants.
Also as a Governor, Osunbor introduced payment of bursary to all Edo students in tertiary institutions, empowerment for all, especially the women and youths, as well as execution of a lot of projects across the State.
Going further, the Group pointed out that apart from his records of achievements, he is steadfast and have a listening ear; always ready to work for the betterment of mankind hence he is the chosen one for the Edo ministerial slot.
Lord Amen Osunde also explained the Group endorsement of the present Minister of State for Budget and National Planning, Prince Clement Ikanade Agba for the number one seat (governorship) in Edo State; adding it will do all humanly possible to ensure he emerge.
He said as it were, the people of Akoko-Edo, Owan and Etsako East have never produced governor of Edo State hence the Group support for him as he comes from this area of the State.
“He is a detribalized person who has ensured development across the State through construction of roads and others, empowerment of the youths, as well as scholarship for students in tertiary institution across Edo State”.
Osunde emphasized that the Group is doing all they can to ensure that these Edo loyal sons and members of the All Progressive Congress (APC) are given the attention for them to continue to impact positively on the good people of Edo State and the country in general.
