Alleged Court Injunction: Odionwere, Elders, Indigenes Of Iyowa Community Dismiss Rumours
By Simeon OSAJIE
The Odionwere, elders and the people of Iyowa Community in Ovia North-East Local Government Area of Edo State have described the alleged court injunction that the present Odionwere is not the rightful person for the headship position as a rumour and should be disregarded by members of the public
Barr Unity Omatseye, counsel to the Odionwere of the Community, Pa Samson Ederaro Obazee, clarified the true position of the issue at a press briefing held at the village town-hall recently.
He said the court rulings on the prayers for interlocutory injunction was misinterpreted in some quarters that his client Pa. Samson Ederaro Obazee has been restrained from parading himself as the substantive Odionwere of Iyowa Community in Ovia North-East Local Government Area of Edo State.
Barr Omatseye explained that the court only ruled that status quo should be maintained and the case adjourned to 13th of June 2023.
“The court said one is 93 years old and the other is 95 years old, it cannot go into interlocutory injunction now and party should maintain status quo antebellum, and what is status quo antebellum, the stage they were before going to court and what was that stage, that Pa Samson Ederaro Obazee was the Odionwere,” he pointed out.
On his part, the Odionwere of Iyowa Community, Pa. Samson Ederaro Obazee said the case of the headship of Iyowam Community is still in court and that there was no time there was any pronouncement barring him from parading himself as the substantive Odionwere until the case is disposed off.
The Secretary of Iyowa Commynity, Mr. Rueben Owie added that for clarity, the court did not suspend the Odionwere as being alleged by some persons but that the court only ask them to go and maintain peace in Iyowa Community.
It will however be recalled that His Royal Majesty, Oba Ewuare II pronounced and made Pa. Samson Ederaro Obazee the Odionwere of Iyowa Community some months ago and there have been relative peace until the court issue came up.
