Esan Women Groups Honours Sergius Ogun With Award Of Excellence

Women in Edo Central Senatorial District of Edo State under the aegies ‘Esan Women Groups (EWP)’ has honoured Hon. Barr. Sergius Oseasochie Ogun, member representing Esan North-East/Esan South-East federal constituency at the National Assembly on his philanthropist disposition towards promoting quality education for girls and boys in Esanland.

Speaking on behalf of the group, Dr. Louisa A. Eikhomun-Agbonkhese, Leader, Esan Women Groups, said Hon. Sergius Ogun’s selfless services that began before his political representation were taken to greater heights in the eight years tenure under review in the House of Representatives.

According to the group leader, “Rt. Hon. Sergius Ogun brought in realistic and relevant interventions to the people especially on education.

“Ogun who believes education is the bed rock of the society and that tomorrow’s leaders needs nurturing, invested in education building new blocks of classrooms, renovating and furnishings existing ones in many schools in Esan Land.”

Dr. Eikhomun-Agbonkhese said that since inception, Sergius Oseasochie Ogun Foundation (SOOF) has enrolment fees for 600 students (girls and boys) for NECO/SSCE examinations every year; university scholarship to best-performing students (male/female); annual distribution of free notebooks to primary and secondary school students and support to Educational Books publication by Esan men, women and others.

She added that women from different groups in Esanland drawn up his achievements to give Hon. Ogun’s score card on his eight years representation.

According to the group, Sergius Ogun has been graded as VERY EXCELLENT with more than 5,000 individual supports on quality education to boys and girls. This is in accordance with the Sustainable Development Goals 4 to ensure that by 2030 all girls and boys have access to quality education.

“Ogun has provided more opportunities for girls to attend and finish secondary schools without dropping out due to lack of enrolment fees. His intervention reduced girl child marriages, trafficking and women poverty through his annual scholarships and financial assistance to families who cannot afford their daughters external exams enrolments, © acceptance and school fees to higher institutions.

“We congratulate the dutiful duty bearer for fulfilling the campaign promise to the right holders as he returns from NASS giving the baton to another by May 29.

“We are also using this medium to encourage other representatives in different levels to finish well with relevant and sustainable interventions so as to return to their constituencies with scorecards deserving standing ovations like that of Rt. Hon. Barr Sergius Oseasochie Ogun,” she said.

Speaking on behalf of Hon. Sergius Ogun, his Personal Assistant, Prince Henry Okpamen, said he is very much happy to be part of the event, because one of the ways we can actual keep our representatives working is when they know that people are watching them, people are marking them step by step in whatever they are doing, and when they know all these, they have no option than to sit tight and do the needful by bringing the dividends of democracy to their constituencies.

“Be that as it may, I must say that your group is one of the groups that I have seen and the first of its kind that have done this. Most of his achievements the group listed here are actually on ground to attest to your findings. I want to on behalf of Hon. Highlight was the presentation of Award of Outstanding and Excellent Service on Hon. Sergius Oseasochie Ogun by the leader of the group, Dr. Louisa A. Eikhomun-Agbonkhese.
