Edo APC Condemns ‘Political, Partisan Statement’ From NBA Benin Branch Chairman
…calls on NBA National to immediate interrogate, investigate his action

The Edo State chapter of the All Progressive Congress (APC) has condemned the statement credited to chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association, (NBA), Benin branch, Nosa Edo-Osagie Esq. during his exco visit to Hon. Omosede Igbinedion, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Federal House of Representatives candidate in the just concluded Ovia Federal constituency.
In a press statement issued and signed by the state Publicity Secretary of the party, Prince Peter Uwadiae Igbinigie and made available to newsmen stated that, Barr. Nosa Edo-Osagie statement is callous, unguarded, uncultured and above all, aimed at undermining the ethos and verve of the legal profession ably represented by the NBA in Nigeria.
He therefore called for immediate interrogation and investigation by the NBA National, of the move by its Benin Branch Chairman in order not to undermine the sacred and revered position accorded the profession by our great party, the APC and the general public.
The statement reads in part: “The All Progressives Congress (APC), Edo State chapter receives with great shock and aghast the puerile political vituperation of the chairman of the NBA, Benin branch during his EXCO visit to Hon. Omosede Igbinedion.
“The statement of the chairman of the NBA Benin Branch Nosa Edo – Osagie Esq is to say the least callous, unguarded, uncultured and above all, aimed at undermining the ethos and verve of the legal profession ably represented by the NBA in Nigeria.
“The world over, the legal profession is one of the oldest and most revered professions encapsulated with well-articulated norms and tradition aimed at engendering civility, nobleness, respect which hitherto earned it the accolade ‘the Noble Profession’.
“This most uncivilized display by the chairman of the reverenced lion BAR demonstrably show the extent of his knowledge of the nonpolitical, non-cultural, non-religious standard of relationship and the immense posture of the NBA as a body, hence the wide condemnation his statement received from members of the NBA and the informed general public.
“The APC, Edo State Chapter hereby solicit an immediate interrogation and investigation by the NBA National, of this senseless move by its Benin Branch chairman in order not to undermine the sacred and revered position accorded the profession by our great party, the APC and the general public.
“The APC strongly believes that the NBA chairman and his cohorts are on a self-travel and self-serving mission which does not represent the views of the members of the NBA, whom they claim to represent.
“While, we wait to hear a more refined and dignified response from the NBA National on this issue, APC, Edo State salute and commend the golden voices of those who fight to ensure that this present EXCO of the lion BAR does not sell the NBA for a pot of porridge.”
