NASEME Holds WASA 2023 With Families, Friends

The Nigerian Army School of Electrical and Mechanical Engineering (NASEME) Auchi, has held 2023 West Africa Social Activities (WASA) to celebrate the successes of the year with their families and friends.

In his welcome address, the Commandant, NASEME, Major General Oladele Arogundade said WASA is a revered age-long tradition, and part of the Nigerian Army ethics and ethos that affords the opportunity to appreciate troops for their contributions to the successes achieved and to mark and celebrate the successes achieved by the school during the outgone year in a social setting as well as usher in activities of the following year.

According to him, “WASA is an annual event in the Nigerian Army which brings together Officers, Soldiers, their families and their friends to dine and interact socially, it also promotes unity amongst different ethnic groups within the barracks and host communities to showcase the rich cultural heritage that abound in the country”.

Maj. Gen. Arogundade further stated that the WASA also afford the opportunity to appreciate troops for their contributions to the successes achieved by the school during the outgone year as it also deepens Espirit-de-corps and strengthen unity among the troops.

He stated that despite some of the challenges, NASEME has recorded remarkable improvement and a very eventful and successful training year in 2023 as it has completed training schedules as reflected in Army headquarters’ forecast of event.

He however commended the NASEME personnel saying the successes and achievements was as a result of their commitment and dedication to service and most especially their contributions to the general peace and security of Auchi and its environs through cooperation and collaboration with other security agencies in the area.

The comdt also revealed that troops welfare and infrastructural development within NASEME community are also receiving prompt attention and become part of the success story in the 2023.

While pledging his commitment to building officers and men with proven competence, commitment and character to contribute to the defense of the nation, promised to consolidate on the successes recorded so far and to continue to improve on the services to NASEME community in particular and Nigerian Army in general.

The NASEME boss used the opportunity to thanked the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt. Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja for his commitment to training and welfare of NASEME personnel, saying it shall continue to key into the COAS’ command philosophy of “To transform the NA into a well-trained, equipped and highly motivated force towards achieving the constitutional responsibilities within a joint environment”.

In his remark, the Special Guest of Honour at the event, the Vice Chancellor of Edo State University Uzairue, Engr. Prof Emmanuel Aluyor thanked the Nigerian Army for their courageous efforts towards keeping the country safe considering the security challenges being faced.

He particularly thanked the Commandant and NASEME personnel for their efforts which has helped to improved security around Auchi and its environs and encouraged them to do more.

“The Nigerian Army has continued to demonstrated that there is unity in diversity that the different in our cultures can be used to our advantage rather than a cause for a division among us”.

The VC further stated that he has observed the good collaboration between the Edo State University Uzairue and NASEME, hoping that the collaboration will result in the signing of MOU between the university and NASEME.

Giving the Vote of thanks,The Deputy Commandant NASEME, Col. Oshuporu appreciated all the guests for finding time out of their busy schedules to come and celebrate with NASEME to appreciate God for the success of the year 2023.

Highpoints of the events includes SGOH/Commandants Visit to Wing Stands, Cultural Dances, Silent Drill, Unarmed Combat,Tug of war, Presentation of Gifts and Awards among Others. The event was rounded off with Beating of Retreat and lighting of Bonfire.
