By Simeon OSAJIE
As the Ramadan fast commences today, March 11, 2024, the Edo State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has called for unity urging the Federal Government to provide adequate security for lives and properties during the season.
The goodwill message signed by Dr. Tony Aziegbemi, urged the Muslim Ummah and the entire Edo people, to utilise the sacred month for fervent prayers, to seek relief amid present economic hardships, and pray for peace, development and prosperity of Edo State and Nigeria at large.
He called for collective effort at finding new solutions to the security and socio-economic challenges facing the nation.
Dr. Aziegbemi who also described the month as special and very significant among the Muslim communities hence the need to appreciate God and identify with each other for witnessing the holy month, expressed deep concern over the alarming increase in abductions of vulnerable citizens in some parts of the country, particularly referring to the recent incidents involving students in Kaduna, internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Borno, and Almajiri pupils in Zamfara states.
He also called on individuals in the society to use the period of Ramadan to support the less privileged ones among them to enable them to observe the fasting with ease as to have a sense of belonging.
He congratulated the Muslim communities in the State and beyond wishing them a successful 2024 Ramadan fast with abundant blessings.
