This confirmation was made by the INEC National Commissioner overseeing the Information and Voter Education Committee, Sam Olumekun.
However Olumekun did not release the names of the parties which failed to meet the deadline, but sources close to The9jaTREND revealed that the National Rescue Movement (NRM) and Youth Party (YP) are the parties who missed the window.
The three major political parties in the state like the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), All Progressives Congress (APC), and Labour Party (LP) were able to submit their candidates within the stipulated period.
Notable nominees include Barr. Dr. Asue Ighodalo of the PDP, Senator Monday Okpebholo from the APC, and Olumide Akpata SAN representing the LP.
Olumekun further noted that 17 political parties managed to upload their candidates’ nomination forms before the portal’s closure at 6:00 pm on March 24.
Additionally, he outlined plans to publish the personal details of the governorship candidates and their running mates on March 30, 2024, in accordance with Section 29(3) of the Electoral Act 2022.
