Other GIS Agencies Nationwide Take Turns To Understudy EDOGIS Operations
…marvel at Gov Obaseki’s huge investments in the Agency

Edo State Geographic information Service (EDOGIS) has continued to dazzle, as several ailing GIS Agencies across Nigeria, who are desirous of breaking even in the built sector and attain the remarkably unprecedented feat of EDOGIS, have started taking their turns to understudy the operations and technological masterpiece of the Agency, now globally renowned for sanitizing the process of Land Administration in the State, using its vast cutting edge technology at its disposal.
Many thanks to the huge technological investment of Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, whose brainchild EDOGIS is.
EDOGIS at inception was saddled with the mandate to effectively and seamlessly apply the use of technology to sanitize the worsening condition of land administration in the State, characterized and hallmarked by incessant land grabbing, killings and interminable unrest in the communities across the State, which was largely orchestrated by the outlawed notorious Community Development Associations, (CDA) before the Obaseki administration in 2016.
Recall that Governor Godwin Obaseki on assumption of office in November 2016, dexterously moved against the destructive activities of Land Grabbers and the so-called CDAs when, in tandem with the State House of Assembly and the Palace of the Omo N’Oba N’edo, Uku Akpolokpolor, Oba Ewuare II, Oba of Benin Kingdom, scrapped the CDAs.
To permanently cure the malaise of the CDAs and Land Grabbers, the Governor immediately swung into action by Scrapping the Bureau of Lands and Survey for its inability to seamlessly regulate and curtail the excesses of the CDAs as well as the prevailing Land grabbing spree which caused a serious upheaval and monumental imbalance and heightened the culture of violence in the State.
To restore peace and sanity, Obaseki came up with the creation of EDOGIS on August 1st 2017, with all the duties and responsibilities and other incidental assignments connected therewith to the defunct Ministry of Lands & Survey subsumed in EDOGIS.
Today, relative Peace and Concord have returned to Land Administration in Edo State, courtesy EDOGIS. Thanks again to the innovative technological drive of The Edo State Digital Governor.
Thursday, March 28, 2024, barely a month after the Enugu GIS team visited EDOGIS to get firsthand information on how the Edo Agency has evolved as the Best Structured and Most Efficient and Proficient in Land Administration in the South-South of Nigeria, a team of GIS experts from Cross Rivers State Geographic information Agency (CRSGIA), Calabar, have again undertaken a Facility Tour of EDOGIS.
The Visitors were amazed at the heights EDOGIS had attained within a short space of time, under the watch of the current Managing Director, ESV. Osaro Grace Aihie, FNIVS, whose reforms since August 2022 when she assumed the leadership of the Agency, have significantly catapulted the Agency to its present enviable heights.
They described as “Highly impressive” what they met on ground, in terms of the Digital Human Resource and The Technological Know How.
They were taken round virtually all the key Units on Facility Tour and at the end of the exercise, they were full of Commendation for Governor Godwin Obaseki and the Managing Director as well as the upwardly mobile and digitally savvy crop of Staff on ground at the Agency.
More wins, More Power to the elbow of the Governor whose brainchild has restored order, peace and harmony to Land Administration in Edo State, thereby attracting more investors and GIS trainees and experts to Edo State to get mentored and tutored in the Obaseki Metrics and fame, now spreading like
Wildlife during Harmattan season.
