The Edo State government has expressed gratitude to the Federal Government for its proactive measures in addressing the Lassa fever scourge in the State.

This was disclosed by the State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Samuel Ali who was represented by Dr. Stephenson Ojiefoh, Director of Public Health at the Edo State Ministry of Health at the ceremony in Benin City, Edo State capital.

Receiving the items, Dr. Ojiefoh who also inaugurated the prevention exercise expressed gratitude to the Federal Ministry of Environment through the Environmental Health Council of Nigeria, for their proactive measures in addressing the Lassa fever scourge.

“On behalf of Edo State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Samuel Alli, I want to expressed our gratitude for the proactive measure taken by Environmental Health Council of Nigeria in addressing the Lasser fever scourge in Nigeria particularly Edo State.”

Earlier, the Deputy Registrar of the Environmental Health Council of Nigeria, (EHCN), Isha Adamu, who spearheaded the initiative at the Edo State Ministry of Health said, the lasser fever intervention is aims to control the proliferation of the pest responsible for the transmission of Lassa fever scourge.

He stated that the items will be focusing on reducing the vector population to prevent future outbreaks.

He thereafter presented the essential items to combat Lesser fever to Dr. Stephenson Ojiefoh, Director of Public Health at the Edo State Ministry of Health who received the items on behalf of the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Samuel Alli.

This intervention is expected to significantly impact the state’s public health landscape by enhancing the effectiveness of Lassa fever prevention strategies.
