APC, Police Officers Plotting To Harass, Intimidate, Persecute PDP Members, Cause Chaos In Edo – PDP Allege
…Urges IGP to investigate, maintain high integrity that is associated with his office

The Edo State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Campaign Organisation has raised the alarm over an alleged plans by the All Progressives Congress (APC) with the assistance of some Police to harass, intimidate, and persecute some members of PDP in order to destablise and cause chaos in the state.
The9JaTREND reports that the Director General, Asue/Ogie Management Campaign Committee, Hon. Mathew Iduoriyekemwen who disclosed this today during a press conference in Benin City, the state capital urged the Inspector General of Police, (IGP) to maintain the high integrity that is associated with his Office to cause an unbiased and thorough investigation based on the alleged plans.
According to Iduoriyekemwen, “It has come to the attention of the PDP Campaign Organisation in Edo State Governorship Election, that the APC has perfected plans with some unscrupulous members of the Nigeria Police to harass, intimidate, and persecute some members of PDP in order to destabilise and cause chaos in Edo State.
“You will recall that the 18th day of July 2024, some thugs acting on behalf of the APC, openly brought assault rifles, pump action shot guns and other dangerous weapon to the bewilderment of all in open view, accompanied by men and officers of the Nigeria Police in company of APC candidate for the September 21 2024 governorship election (Monday Okpeholo) and the impeached Deputy Governor of Edo State, Comrade Philip Shuaibu. Up, who brandi until now, no arrest has been made.
“Sequel to the above, we are aware that the mayhem orchestrated by the APC thugs on the instance of Philip Shaibu, led to the death of the policeman that was killed at the airport by the so called APC “lions and tigers” spearheaded by the State Youth Leader of the APC, one Comrade Tony Adun aka Tony Kabaka.
“It is on record that the said Tony Kabaka and other members of the APC have been boasting to high heavens that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu had promised in a widely circulated video online to gift Edo State to them, notwithstanding the wishes and desires of Edo people.
“It is instructive on this note, that recently the APC tried to hoodwink the office of the Deputy Inspector General of Police (FCID) to carry out their insidious bid by orchestrating a petition at the behest of one self-styled “Khalifa” Jarret Tenebe also known as “Emperor” Jarret Tenebe and other aliases, currently the acting Chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo State, wherein he alleged that the Hon. Chairman of Esan North-East, Hon. Kelly Ilenedagbor of brandishing pump action guns among other allegations.”
Going further, the DG, Asue/Ogie Management Campaign Committee added: “Further to the above, when the D.I.G Force CID neglected and/or refused to act on the above stated allegations, one unknown individual who obviously was procured by the APC, as can be seen in the videos making the rounds online was arrested and taken to Force Headquarters, FCT Abuja by one Deputy Commissioner of Police, Patrick Ejedawe, who is the D.C. Ops, AIG Zone 2, Onikan, Lagos.
“The said Deputy Commissioner of Police, Patrick Ejedewe is a businessman and owner of Citadel Hotel Uromi, has always been used as a political mercenary by APC politicians in that vicinity.
“Consequently upon the above, we urge the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to maintain the high integrity that is associated with his Office, and that also note that, the Nigeria Police is a Police for all Nigerians and not an extension of the All Progressives Congress.
“We also call on the Inspector General of Police to use his good Offices to cause an unbiased and thorough investigation based on the above complains.”
Recall the Media Consultant, Edo APC Campaign Organsiation, Prince Kassim Afegbua, yesterday 30th July also alleged that intelligence report reaching the APC Campaign Organisation has revealed plans by Governor Godwin Obaseki to escalate the planned protest for 1st August to score very cheap political points.
According to him, “We have been inundated with reports pointing in that direction, in what observers say is his last ditch effort to whip up support for his anointed candidate. How do we curtail this juggernaut? Flowing from his earlier threat, “Nigeria will burn, and I will lead it,” Governor Obaseki is set to use this planned protest to escalate crises in Edo State; especially in Benin City, Uromi, Ekpoma, Auchi and Igarra, with the hope of intimidating political opponents. We have it on good authority that he has started mobilising people underground, using pecuniary inducement, urging them to come out enmasse on Thursday, 1st August to challenge the APC-led Federal Government. He is promoting sedition amongst Edo people against President Tinubu and the Federal Government.”
When The9JaTERND put call across to the Edo State Police 2ic, Eno Okoede over the allegation levelled against the police by the PDP, she said, “That is not true, the police is not a political platform for any propaganda. Our work is to maintain peace and order. We are not involved in any political party being it APC, PDP, Labour Party.”
