Late Onyeka Onwenu Was A Legendary Artist Whose Music Performances Resonates Million Of Nigerians – Edo Dep Speaker

Deputy Speaker of the Edo House of Assembly, (EDHA), Rt. Hon (Mrs)  Maria Omozele Oligbi-Edeko has described the late veteran Nigerian singer, songwriters and actress, Dr. Onyeka Onwenu as a legendary artist whose music and performances resonated with millions of people across the globe.

This was contained in a statement personally signed by Deputy Speaker Oligbi-Edeko and made available to newsmen in Benin City, the state capital.

Recall Onwenu was reportedly died on Tuesday night at the Reddington Hospital, Lagos after she slumped after playing at the birthday party of Mrs. Stella Okoli.

While expressing sorrow over the death of. Onyeka Onwenu at the age of 72, Oligbi-Edeko stated that she was also a staunch advocate for social justice and women’s rights.

She noted: “Onyeka Onwenu used her platform to promote unity, peace, and the empowerment of women, serving as a beacon of hope and inspiration to countless Nigerian women.

“It is with profound sadness that we mourn the passing of Onyeka Onwenu, a veteran Nigerian singer, songwriter, and actress whose contributions to nation-building are immeasurable.

“Onyeka Onwenu was a towering figure whose impact went beyond entertainment.

“She was a trailblazer who championed the cause of women and used her voice to advocate for change and progress in our society.

“Her legacy will continue to inspire future generations to strive for excellence and uphold the values she so passionately believed in,”

According to her, our hearts goes out to her family, friends, and all who were touched by her extraordinary life and work. May her soul rest in peace.
