Police Declare Rights Activist Wanted For Treason

A rights activist cum political commentator, Comrade Ohikhuare Okhaide Emmanuel has been declared wanted by the police in Benin City, Edo State capital.
A police bulletin issued in Benin City on 12th August 2024, said Ohikhuare is believed to be one of the arrow heads of the #ENDBADGOVERNANCE protest that swept across the nation from 1st to 10th of August, 2024.
It said intelligence report gathered had shown that Ohikhuare made several posts on the social media including his twitter handle now X, where he invited Nigerian youths to participate in the August anti-government protest.
The police also said that police surveillance activities indicated that Ohikhuare together with others held anti government rally on the 30th of July 2024 where he openly incited the citizens to protest against the Federal Government of Nigeria which contravenes section 41 of the Criminal Code.
The police said his action amounted to treasonable felony as he deliberately incited the people against the Federal Government of Nigeria, adding that Ohikhuare failed to honour a police invitation extended to him and others on July 31,2024.
It said the rights activist who hails from Ivbiadohen in Owan West Local Government Area of Edo state is also wanted for his political activities as he parades the streets with thugs to intimidate and harass his political opponents.
The statement urged members of the public with any useful information that might lead to his arrest to report to the Police Headquarters, Benin City or the nearest police station within or outside Edo State.
