The leadership of the affiliate members of the Edo State Chapter of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has unanimously passed a Vote of Confidence on its State Chairman, Comrade (Chief) Odion Olaiye and Comrade Williams of National Union of Electricity Employees (NUEE), the Vice Chairman and subsequently urged the general public to disregard their purported removal, stating that Chief Odion Olaiye remains the State Chairman of the Congress adding that the purported removal is illegal, null and void.
In a letter titled “Vote Of Confidence” signed by 44 of its affiliate members and made available to the newsmen earlier today in Benin City, the Edo State capital, asked the general public to disregard the purported removal as it is baseless, unfounded and lacks merit and authenticity, adding that it is the figment of the imagination of the author whom it described as mischief makers.
According to the statement, “We the undersigned affiliate members of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Edo State Chapter, hereby unanimously passed a Vote of Confidence on the leadership of the Congress under Comrade (Chief) Odion Olaiye as Congress Chairman and Comrade Williams of National Union of Electricity Employees (NUEE) as Vice Chairman.
“This letter of Vote of Confidence becomes imperative to further demonstrate and reassure that the SAC and SEC members of the Congress in Edo State disassociate themselves from the purported removal of Comrade (Chief) Odion Olaiye and Comrade Williams as Vice Chairman of the Congress in Edo State.
The letter further added that there was no bases for the consideration of their removal as they have performed brilliantly well in the discharge of their duties.
“We have not found them wanting in any way in the discharge of their duties and no record of misdeed or case of incompetence recorded against them and as such we urge the general public and all authorities concerned to disregard the purported removal as it is the figment of the imagination of the author”.
