Edo Govt. Set To End Land Grabbing
…Frowns at menace of racketeers in Auchi
…Assures of staff welfare in EDOGIS
By Simeon OSAJIE
Edo State Government has solicited the support and cooperation of residents in the State to end the menace of land grabbing.
Speaking on behalf of the State Governor, the new Managing Director of Edo State Geographic Information Service (EdoGIS), Dr. Tony Ikpasaja at his maiden meeting with the entire Staff of the Agency said the government was poised to end the menace of land grabbing in record time.
He particularly frowned at the menace of land racketeering on government lands in Auchi in Edo North Senatorial District.
According to Dr. Ikpasaja, the immediate concern of his leadership is to broaden the revenue base of the Agency in line with His Excellency, the Governor’s directive and seek ways of encouraging the entire workforce through various incentives that will positively impact on their welfare.
The MD hinted that he was already aware of reported incidences of land grabbing in parts of the state, the latest being in Auchi area of Edo North, and cautioned Staff not to connive or collaborate with unscrupulous elements to promote the unwholesome activity which he warned will be visited with serious sanctions when discovered.
He advised them to always come early to work and be committed to their assigned tasks in order to meet the target of the Agency, promising that he will bring back necessary incentives to encourage them.
The interactive session afforded staff the opportunity to ask questions to which answers were provided, while the MD promised to run an open door policy anchored on confidentiality.
It will be recalled that on resumption as the new Managing Director of EDOGIS on Monday, January 6, 2025, Dr Tony Ikpasaja immediately hit the ground running when he met with the Management Team who led him on a guided tour of the Departments and units where he interfaced with members of Staff at their duty posts.
