John Agbaje Emerges State Chairman Of  NNPP For Second Terms

The Edo State chapter of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) held its State Congress on Thursday in Benin City, where it inaugurated a new set of executives to steer the party’s affairs for the next four years.

Mr. John Agbaje was re-elected as the State Chairman, alongside a full complement of other new officers, who were all unanimously endorsed by the congress attendees. The event, presided over by Comrade Moses, saw the election of key party leaders committed to driving the vision of the NNPP’s forward in the coming years.

The newly elected officers include: Mr. Amaechi Uzor Iyeke, Vice Chairman; Mr. Akuoba Moses, Deputy Chairman of Edo North; Mr. Larry Emwinghare, Deputy Chairman of Edo South; and Mr. Blessing Enaholo Aigbogun, Deputy Chairman of Edo Central.

Other members include Prince Daniel Ero as Secretary, Mr. Samuel Irabor as Deputy Secretary, and Mr. Goodluck Imonitie as Treasurer.

Mr. Erick Abisoye, who was appointed Deputy Treasurer, alongside Mr. Friday Emovan as Financial Secretary, will be charged with overseeing the party’s finances. Meanwhile, Mr. Samuel Osaretin assumes the role of Deputy Financial Secretary, and Comrade Edosa Unity Henry takes on the position of Publicity Secretary.

Other appointments include. Further appointments include Mr. Musa Nasiru as Organising Secretary and Omorogie Ruben as Deputy Organizing Secretary. Mr. Collins Momoh was named Welfare Secretary, with Tina Bassey as Deputy Welfare Secretary. Women’s leadership is represented by Mrs. Juliet Omoruyi, who will serve as the Women Leader, while Mrs. Faith Ajayi is the Deputy Women Leader. Mr. Silvester Osariemen will lead as Youth Leader, and Mr. Isaac Momoh will serve as one of the three Ex-Officio members.

In his acceptance speech, Mr. Agbaje expressed his gratitude to NNPP members for re-electing him and reaffirmed his commitment to building a stronger party. He called for unity and collaboration, stressing that only through collective effort could the party make meaningful progress.

“I am deeply honoured to be entrusted with this responsibility for another four years,” Agbaje remarked. “This victory is for all of us. It is a victory to serve the people and take our party to greater heights. Together, we will work to realise our goal of having a presence in Osadebe House – the seat of government in Edo State.”

Agbaje also set ambitious targets for the party, vowing to produce candidates for key political positions, including the vacant Edo-Central Senatorial seat and the Ovia North and Ovia South Federal Constituencies. He urged party members to prepare for future elections at all levels, from local councils to the national stage.

He also emphasised the importance of grassroots engagement, stating, “True victory in politics comes from connecting with the grassroots. We must ensure that all candidates are given a fair chance to present their vision and engage with the people directly. This is the key to winning elections.”

The newly elected executives are expected to play a pivotal role in mobilising the party’s supporters and driving its political agenda forward.
