Global Blessing Incorporated Foundation, a non-profit/non-Governmental Organization, has organized one-day free eye care and free medical outreach for elderly from the age of 55 and above in Edo State.

The free medical outreach in memory of their late Parents, Late Mr. Egbekoruwa Woghiren and Late Madam Grace Eghianruwa Obamedo Woghiren, a.k.a. “Omedo”, and as a way of giving back to the society.

The founder of the foundation, Mr. David Woghiren and Mrs. Esther Ngozi Woghiren are United States of America based Nigerians who have been carrying out humanitarian work for more than ten years now.

The event which took place on November 30, 2024 along Nekpenekpen Street, Beside BEDC, Second East Circular Road, Benin City, Edo State capital was attended by beneficiaries drawn across the State and beyond.

Addressing the beneficiaries on behalf of the donors at the event, the Nigeria Coordinator of the foundation, Dr. Emmanuel Oriabure explained the aims and objectives of the foundation,   said the medical outreach started two years ago in Nigeria, assured all the elderly present would be quickly attended so that they can go home on time.

According to the Benin City Coordinator of Foundation, Barr. Isibhakhomen Oriabure, “Some people came together to form Global Blessings Incorporated and come together to assist the people but that this year’s will focus on the elderly in the society who are aging and cannot fully take care of their needs and health condition.

“It is against the background that Global Blessings Incorporated deems it important to assist the people through medical consultation and donates medical equipment like eye glasses, free polish and scaling (dental cares), wheelchairs, drugs, walking aids, others to assist the elderly.

“This is the second edition of the free medical care for the elderly and the foundation intends to continue as it pleases God Almighty.”

The medical outreach brought in various medical personnel both from the University of Benin (Uniben) and University Teaching Hospital (UBTH), Benin City who were on ground to offer different professional services to the elderly, ranging from general checkups, free reading glasses, free drugs, eye care, dental care, etc.

The medical professionals also enlightened the elderly on how to take proper care of their health condition and the need to ensure qualified medical personnel are the ones they consult for proper medical treatment and desist from self-medication.

The highlight of the event was the presentation of free eye glasses, free polish and scaling, free drugs, wheelchairs, walking aids and cash for those that could not get the drugs amongst the ones they brought and others.

Some of the beneficiaries which includes, Mr. Peter Igbinoba an uncle to the donors, expressed their gratitude to the founders of the foundation, Mr. David Woghiren and Mrs. Esther Woghiren and prayed to God Almighty for the expansion of the foundation so as to continue to render selfless services to the elderly in the society.
