The newly inaugurated Governing Council of Ambrose Alli University (AAU), Ekpoma, led by Chief Dan Osi Orbih, has embarked on a familiarization tour of the university and its host community. This visit comes less than 24 hours after the council’s inauguration and ahead of its maiden meeting.
During a courtesy visit to the Palace of the Onojie of Ekpoma, Chief Orbih, accompanied by other council members and the university management team, informed the monarch that the Edo State governor has entrusted them with leveraging their collective expertise to enhance the university’s administration. “We are aware of the significant challenges facing the institution and seek your prayers, support, and that of the host community,” Orbih stated.
In response, the Onojie of Ekpoma, HRH Bar. Anthony Abumere II, thanked the chairman and council members for visiting the palace. He prayed for a successful tenure and assured them of the palace’s unwavering support.
At the various meetings with relevant stakeholders in Ambrose Alli University Ekpoma, Chief Dan Orbih informed the leaders of the various Unions that the council will partner with them to achieve the desired goals of making the University better and greater.
“We are here because of you. We are prepared to work for you and also looking forward to working with you. We are aware of the challenges but we will also crave your indulgence to do position papers for us so that we can have a grasp of the details of the challenges.
“Time and patience would be required for us to the able to address the various challenges facing our dear University. To this end, I will want to, on behalf of my other colleagues at the Council, enjoined you all to be patient as we are determined to work In the interest of all.
The leadership of Academic Staff Union of Universities ASUU, CONUA, JAC, SANNU, NASU and the SUG were at various times available to have audience with the Council members.
The Unions reinstated the needs for the council to urgently address the issue of minimum wage, other welfare and Sundry Issues.
