EDOSTAR Fellows Debunk Contract Extension, Appeal To Gov Okpebholo For Permanency

The Edo Supporting Teachers Achieve Results (EDOSTARS) Fellows today debunked alleged contract extension, having completed their three years of service before full time absorption into the Edo State Public Service as teachers.

The over 2,500 fellows said this publication became necessary to draw the attention of His Excellency, Senator Monday Okpebholo, the Executive Governorof Edo State, the general public and other stakeholders, to debunk any rumour or news making round that EDOSTARS have accepted contract extension.

According to.them, “We want to let the world know that those spreading such propaganda and misinformation are doing so from the figment of their imagination.

“We want to also draw the attention of the general public that the recent visit of the Nigeria Labour Congress, (NLC), Edo State Chapter to the governor thanking him for regularizing contract staff in the state doesn’t apply to Edostars. It may be that other ministries, agencies or parastals have regularized their contract workers, but Education Ministry has not done any regularization as at today.

“It is worthy to note that Edostars have booked an appointment to meet with His Excellency, Senator Monday Okpebholo, the governor of Edo State, on Thursday April 17th, but some wicked elements are going about trying to frustrate our move to ensure the meeting doesn’t hold, because they know we want to bare it all to the governor on the state of things.

“We humbly appeal to all well meaning and concerned Nigerians and Edolites to join us plead with the governor to prevail on the Honourable Commissioner of Education and the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) Chairman to give us our permanent appointment as full time public service teachers in the state.”
