BTC Secretary, Frank Irabor Denies Allegations of Aiding Deposed-Ohen of Okhoromi

…Gives seven days ultimatum for retraction

The Secretary of the Benin Traditional Council, (BTC), Frank Irabor, has vehemently denied allegations of aiding the now-deposed Ohen of Okhoromi, Kelvin Ovbokhan Igbinovia, in demolishing property in the community.

In a statement dated May 16, 2025, signed and made available to newsmen in Benin, Irabor noted that the allegations, which claim that he visited the community four days before the protest outburst, and got rewarded with one of the land housing the demolished buildings by the chief priest, is “entirely false and baseless.”

The Okhoromi Community had carried out protests with banners inscribed with the message: “FRANK IRABOR STOP SUPPORTING EVIL ACT” on May 14, 2025, attracting public concern over his alleged involvement.

The leader of the protesters, Victor Aigbe John Edosomwna, had publicly claimed that Frank Irabor was rewarded with a plot of land measuring 100 feet by 50 feet in the area that was demolished.

However, worried by the public outcry over the allegations and the need to uphold his integrity, Frank Irabor has given Victor Aigbe John Edosomwan, a 7 days ultimatum to provide evidence to support the allegations or retract the claims.

Irabor who has strongly denied any involvement in aiding or protecting the Ohen of Okhoromi in demolishing properties or engaging in any unlawful activities, is urging
the relevant authorities to investigate these allegations and take action against those spreading false information.

Irabor is, however, confident that a thorough investigation will reveal the truth and clear his name of these baseless allegations.

Frank Irabor’s denial of the allegations and his call for evidence or retraction seem to demonstrate his commitment to upholding the highest standards of integrity and justice as the public awaits the outcome of the investigation and potential litigation.
