The Chairman Edo State House Of Assembly (EDHA) Service Commission, Hon. Ezehi Igbas has stated that the commission under his watch is poised towards providing enabling environment for workers of Assembly and ensure the welfare of its staff.
He made this disclosure while addressing staff of the assembly as part of a familiarization tour of the legislative body for the first time since his appointment and that of the commission’s members.
Hon. Igbas used the occasion to assure the staff that the commission will leave no stone unturned in ensuring that the seemingly challenges facing the staff is minimized and brought under control, noting that what is required is a reciprocal response from the workers by putting in their best to attain qualitative services.
The interactive session afforded workers the opportunity to demand for a better package, particular lack of facilities and a favourable working environment to boost the morale of workers.
Speaking on behalf of the workers, the chairman of the Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria (PASAN) Edo State chapter, Mallam Haruna Faruk seized the opportunity to agitate for a better working relationship between the commission and the assembly workers, noting that the inadequate availability of amenities creates room for redundancy and inefficiency in service delivery.
Igbas however reiterated the commission’s readiness to sustain the consistency in the promotion of workers amongst other benefits that accrues to the workers, adding that erring workers particularly those acting as ‘ghost’ workers would be shown the way out of the service.
He also affirmed that the issue of workers retrenchment was never in the agenda of the commission and should be disregarded.
