A socio-cultural group of the Owan nation, known as “Owan Conscience Group” has perfected plans to mark the maiden edition of Owan Day Celebration.

Chairman of the Group, Barrister Richard Ofen-Imu, announced this in a press statement made available to newsmen in Benin, Edo State capital.

Barr. Ofen-Imu said that the event which is scheduled for Saturday, May 31, 2025, in Afuze, the administrative headquarters of the Owan East local government area of the state is expected to feature an array of cultural activities.

According to Barr. Ofen-Imu, “the ceremony which is designed to bring the Owan people together for reflection, cultural exploration and collective advancement, will feature a variety of cultural exhibitions from the clans and communities across the two local government areas in Owan. Talks and discussions on Owan history, leadership and development among others will also take the centre stage.”

While expressing the preparedness of the body for the occasion, Barr. Ofen-Imu noted that all arrangements have been perfected to ensure a hitch free ceremony.

Known fondly as the Owan’s, this vibrant community is ready to join the ranks of other communities in the Edo North district that honour their history, culture, and progress with a dedicated annual event.

The Owan enclave encompasses two local government areas: Owan East and Owan West, solidifying a strong regional identity.
