According to the Commissioner, Security is critical and of immense importance to the Governor, that is why the first letter of the Five point Agenda, Project SHINE, ‘S’ stands for security.

Hon Ohonbamu said, Governor Monday Okpebholo is poised to ensure that under his watch, criminal elements would not be allowed to continue to destabilize the state and he has vowed to deal with them decisively to make the state peaceful.

“The various security measures taken by the Governor, including the inauguration of the Security Committee and Boundary Dispute Committee to tackle security issues and land disputes have become necessary to ensure peace and security is maintained across the state.

“The Boundary Dispute Committee is set up to claim and get clearly our boundary with neighbouring states like Ondo, Delta and Kogi.

“The Governor has taken land mark actions, such as providing vehicles and motor cycles for the police and other security agencies, as well as using the security votes judiciously to ensure the state is safe.

“The reorganized and restructured Edo State Security Corps who have been trained by notable retired Military Generals led by Gen. Cecil Esekhaigbe is a step to curb criminality in the state.

“The Governor has reiterated that the administration will focus on practical steps to tackle the growing threat of insecurity which are yielding positive results today,” he added

The Commissioner affirmed that the Governor has declared war against criminals who will no longer have a place in the state, and he advised that it is necessary for citizens to resolve to work with the Security and Boundary Dispute Committees to promote peaceful co-existence across the state and neighbouring states.

Ohonbamu further noted that Governor Okpebholo is not sparing any expense in chasing out all criminal elements and entrepreneurs of violence from Edo State.
