How Rev. Johnny Aikpitanyi Emerged PDP Candidate for Ovia Federal Constituency

The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Ovia North-East and Ovia South-West has elected Rev. Johnny Aikpitanyi as its candidate for the Federal House of Representatives, representing Ovia Federal Constituency slated for August 16, Bye-Election.
The primary election, held today Monday 21st August, 2025, was conducted under the supervision of PDP National Delegates and monitored by officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). The process was overseen by National Delegates Electoral Officer, Sir Tarila Tulagha, and the National Delegates Returning Officer, Evelyn Promise.
At the end of the election, Rev. Johnny Aikpitanyi secured a total of 63 votes to emerge as the party’s official flag bearer for Ovia Federal Constituency.
Speaking to journalists after his emergency, Rev. Aikpitanyi appreciated the party for trusting him with the ticket and promised not to disappoint. He assured party members and the people of Ovia Federal Constituency that he would work hard to bring progress, and unity. He also called on everyone to support the party ahead of the bye-election.
The Deputy Vice Chairman of PDP in the State, Mr. Harrison Amagbon, and Mr. Monday Osaigbovo, expressed confidence in Rev. Aikpitanyi’s capacity to deliver and lead Ovia North-East and Ovia South-West local government areas towards meaningful development.
Mr. Destiny Kenabulele and other supporters, described the election as smooth and peaceful, expressing hope that the party would win the House of Representatives Bye-election.
