Edo State Commissioner for Information and Communication, Hon. Paul Ohonbamu has strongly condemned the statement of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP Candidate for the Ovia Federal Constituency House of Representatives seat by-election describing Governor Monday Okpebholo’s 2.5 million votes in 2027 for President Bola Tinubu a false narrative to hood wink the President.
In a statement in Benin, the Commissioner who disclosed that the PDP is dead in Edo State drew the attention of the PDP House of Representative candidate, Jonny Ikponmwosa Aikpitanyi to the fact that PDP today in Edo state is now only existing in name and Governor Okpebholo will deliver the votes as promised.
Ohonbamu emphasized the unwavering commitment of President Bola Tinubu’s administration to enhance the living condition of Edo People and he has demonstrated this in action with the massive support from the Federal Government to the state government
According to him, “There has been a tsunami in the PDP as well-meaning sons and daughters are leaving the Party to Join the All Progressives Congress, APC across the state. It is obvious that no one wants to remain in opposition, which will not be in the interest of the state.”
The Commissioner, therefore advised the PDP Candidates for the Ovia Federal Constituency House of Representatives and the Esan Central Senatorial District by-election on August 16th 2025 to stop living in a dream paradise because of the demise of the PDP in the state.
The Commissioner who was reacting to a statement credited to Aikpitanyi in Benin City stated that the remnants of the PDP in the state should stop dreaming of ever winning any election in the state.
According to him, the PDP has nothing to offer the people and there has been mass movement to the APC from all the political parties, apparently due to the focus of the Governor Okpebholo’s administration to deliver the dividends of democracy to the people.
“The Governor will deliver the 2.5m votes in the state because the APC has become the beautiful bride. With the death of the PDP, the candidates of the APC will emerge victorious,” he added.
While calling on eligible voters to come out to support the APC, Hon. Ohonbamu, a former Deputy Speaker of Edo State House of Assembly, said Edo State cannot afford to remain in opposition if the people must receive the dividends of democracy.
