The Edo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), today alleged that the party has uncovered plans by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to cause chaos by attacking some selected polling and collation centres tomorrow, Saturday August 16, 2025 in Edo Central Senatorial District and Ovia Federal Constituency bye-election.
This was disclosed in a press statement signed today August 15, 2025 by APC State Chairman, Emperor Jarrett Tenebe and made available to newsmen in Benin, the state capital.
According to Tenebe, “Reliable surveillance report last night has identified a large crowd of thugs suspected to have been imported from neighbouring states were seen gathered at Inegbiniki’s home in Opoji, Esan West Local Government Area of Edo State and they were dispatched last night to various points in Edo Central.
“We have earlier reported to the security agencies that the said PDP leader played a major role in the alleged murder of Inspector Akor, but sadly, he has been left to walk the streets freely unchallenged.
“One of those that attended the briefing informed us that they were brought from neighbouring states for the purpose of the senatorial election.
“Similarly, strange looking youngsters in several unmarked buses were seen last night, parked at the residence of the State Caretaker Chairman of PDP, Tony Aziegbemi, in Benin City and again we have been told that the unidentified fierce looking men have been dispatched to Ovia North-East and Ovia South-West Local Government Areas to disrupt the bye-election.
“We are by this notice calling on the Nigerian Police Force to arrest these PDP leaders and others to stop them from attacking innocent voters -election is not war.
“For the avoidance of doubt, as a substantive State Chairman of the APC in Edo State, I wish to state our resolve to defend the votes that Edo people are ready to cast for candidate of their choice both in Ovia Federal Constituency and Edo Central Senatorial District and we shall vehemently defend their votes without fear.
“The APC is grounded in the principle of strong democratic core values of free, fair and credible electoral process and we have also campaigned vigorously, as such, we are ready to win both bye-elections overwhelmingly.
“We are advising Aziegbemi and his cohorts that they should allow level playground so that Edo people in Ovia Federal Constituency and Edo Central Senatorial District to come out and cast their vote for candidate of their choice.”
Going further, Jarrett Tenebe added; “In the last two weeks, I have been in Ekiti State along with other APC leaders for a national assignment that will ensure that our party wins the governorship election through democratic means and therefore, we will not allow the PDP and its agents to ring the bye-election in Edo State.
“Tomorrow’s election shall be the testament and confirmation of the 2.5million votes Edo people have promised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election. We call on all eligible voters to turn out in their numbers to cast their votes unhindered.”
Reacting to the allegation levelled against him by the State Chairman of APC, Emperor Jarrett Tenebe when The9JaTREND put a call across to Dr. Tony Aziegbemi, State Caretaker Committee Chairman, he said “Absolute rubbish.”

In Swift reaction to the allegation by Jarrett Tenebe, Chief Inegbiniki through phone said; “It is not true that I’m mobilising thugs to disrupt Edo Central bye-election.
“I take exception to that reckless statement coming from the mouth of a deserter soldier man. It is clear that the self-styled Emperor Jarret has psychiatric problems, he should not be taken seriously.
“Jarret has become a disgrace to the APC, he is known for his reckless talks, he talks before thinking.
“I urge all peace loving people of Edo Central Senatorial District to disregard the insane statement of Jarret and go about their civic duties by going out to vote on Saturday.

“I urge APC to watch Jarret Tenebe, he is known in the past to make this kind of reckless statement so that APC can release money to him to counter the so-called imaginary thugs, this must be one of such statement to collect money from APC.
“Once again, I deny any involvement in the death of the Policeman, Inspector Unoh Akor, I was not on Airport road on the day of the incident neither did I plan or conspired with anyone. I am innocent of the allegations. It is now clear that it was Jarret Tenebe that framed up the allegations against me just to smear my hard earned reputation. I was not involved.
“I have already instituted a libel action against Jaret Tenebe and his cohorts, we are in court and I believe I will get justice at the end of the day,” he stated.
