The pioneer chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Edo State Chairman, Chief Solomon Aguele has passed on at the age of 88.
In a statement signed by Dr. Tony Aziegbemi, Chairman of the State Caretaker Committee of the party and made available to newsmen, he described Late Chief Aguele as someone who served the party with distinction and dedication from 1999 to 2007.
According to Aziegbemi, “Chief Solomon Aguele was a committed leader whose steadfastness, wisdom, and devotion to democratic ideals laid the strong foundation upon which our party continues to stand today. His leadership during the formative years of our great party in Edo was pivotal to the growth and successes recorded.
“We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, political associates, and all who mourn his departure. Chief Aguele will be remembered for his humility, loyalty, and enduring contributions to the PDP and to the development of Edo State. May his soul rest in perfect peace.”
Speaking through telephone interview with The9JaTREND on the demised of his uncle, the former Chairman of Esan South-East local government council, Hon. Peter Aguele described him as a great man who was someone always fund to be with him.
According to him, “My uncle, Chief Solomon Aguele was a great man. He was someone always fun to be with. He was a politician that didn’t think about himself, he was selfless. He has left a footprint in the annals of political history of Nigeria.
“He used to say to me that as chairman he produced Governors, and he was also very supportive of my politics, even when I started radically. And one word he said to me is ‘politics is not a thing you call your first son to come and inherit, you must show that you have the capacity to do it’. Great man indeed. May his soul rest in the bosom of God Almighty will we meet to part no more.”
