Torrential Rainfall: Edo Govt Committed to Complete all Ongoing Projects – Ohonbamu

Edo State Commissioner for Information and Communication, Hon. Paul Ohonbamu has assured that all State Government projects are ongoing despite the slowdown caused by the daily torrential rainfall in the state.
The Commissioner in a statement in Benin City stated that the recent rainfall has indeed impacted the pace of road construction in the State.
“Some of the notable projects include Road and Drainage Construction going on across the state and the Catholic Charismatic Renewal Road in Ugbiyoko is one of the major projects currently in progress, with a retention pond planned to discharge water from heavy rainfall.
“The construction of Edo State’s first flyover bridge at Ramat Park in Benin City is progressing well, with significant percent of the work completed and expected to be finished within 12 months as well as the Utteh Palace Road, with Significant progress made on drainage work ahead of major road construction on this 4.7 km stretch in Benin.”
According to the Commissioner, to mitigate the impact of rainfall on road construction, the Edo State Government has emphasized the importance of Proper Drainage, by ensuring that communities provide discharge points for rainfall runoff to prevent waterlogging and erosion and Focusing on building roads that can withstand heavy rainfall and last longer.
“We’re committed to completing these projects efficiently and effectively, despite the challenges posed by the rainy season,” he added
Ohonbamu advised that, “As we navigate the complexities of governance, let’s focus on the positive developments in our state because Governor Monday Okpebholo’s administration has achieved significant milestones, and it’s essential to acknowledge these efforts.
“With these initiatives aimed at improving the lives of Edo people, the administration has shown commitment to progress.
“Therefore, let’s build and work towards a brighter future. Let’s emphasize the good work being done and support the government in the efforts to develop Edo State.
“Let’s look forward to positive impact of our government’s initiatives and continue to support the building of a prosperous Edo State,” the Commissioner added.
