This was contained in Obaseki’s condolences message he personally signed and made available to newsmen in Benin, the state capital.

The message read:

“I received with sadness the news of the passing of Deputy Inspector General of Police, Parry Osayande (Rtd.), an illustrious Edo son and one of Nigeria’s most distinguished law enforcement officers.

“A super cop, DIG Parry Osayande was a man of stellar courage and bravery. He was renowned for leading the historic operation that brought an end to the reign of terror of Lawrence Anini and his gang, an extraordinary feat that restored calm to Benin City and etched his name permanently in the sands of our nation’s security history.

“A compassionate leader and mentor, I will miss his fatherly advice, his quiet but firm counsel, and the rare wisdom he shared as a dependable confidant and reliable mentor. He provided me with invaluable guidance and support, standing as a pillar of encouragement throughout my eight years in office as governor.

“His steady presence and unwavering belief in the reforms we championed strengthened my resolve, making him not just a mentor but a true ally in the service of our people.

“DIG Osayande carried his duties with dignity, never losing sight of the people whose lives and safety he had sworn to protect. His life embodied the highest ideals of service, discipline, integrity, sacrifice, and patriotism.

“I extend my heartfelt condolences to the Osayande family. We share your grief, but also the pride of knowing that his life was not only well-lived but immensely impactful. May God grant him eternal rest and give his family, friends, and indeed all Nigerians, the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.”
