This was stated in a disclaimer signed by Dr. Tony Aziegbemi and Hon. Henry Duke Tenebe, Chairman and Secretary of the state PDP, respectively, to distance themselves from a parallel congress proposed by another group.

According to Dr. Aziegbemi and Hon. Tenebe, Chairman and Secretary of the State PDP, the party had already concluded its congress, electing officers in a peaceful atmosphere.

The Dan Orbih-led group’s actions may be seen as a challenge to the party’s existing leadership, potentially triggering a power struggle.

Recall, Tlthe PDP in Edo State held local government congresses across all 18 local government areas on September 21, 2025, electing new executive committees and national delegates.

The PDP accused Orbih, who has been rewarded with two positions – Chairman of the Governing Council of Ambrose Alli University (AAU) Ekpoma and Chairman of the Governing Council of Federal College of Education (Technical), Umunze of planning to hold a parallel state congress to give impression of a division in the party.
