Following its 2025 National Convention held at the main University campus in Ekpoma, the worldwide leadership of the Alumni Association of Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma has commended the efforts of the State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, for revamping the University within a short space of time. This commendation, contained in a communique jointly signed by the Worldwide President, Dr. Clifford Imade Omozeghian, Esq., and Worldwide General Secretary, Pastor Ikupa Joseph, describes Governor Monday Okpebholo as a leader with a heart of gold and a drive to restore the University’s lost glory.
“A vote of confidence is passed on His Excellency, Distinguished Senator Monday Okpebholo, Executive Governor of Edo State, for his steadfast commitment to reposition Ambrose Alli University as a center of excellence in line with the vision of its founding father, Prof. Ambrose Folorunsho Alli.”
The communique also acknowledged the adverse impact of the Godwin Obaseki-led Special Intervention Team (SIT) on the university, which had led to near-complete decadence and collapse in all facets. However, the communique noted that Governor Monday Okpebholo’s administration is working hard to rectify the situation.
The communique further stated, “We are calling on all members of the Alumni Association to join hands with us to complete the Digital Examinations and Records building project. This project is part of our contributions towards enhancing the processing of transcripts, certificates, and results for graduates of the University.”
In her address at the 2025 National Convention, the Vice-Chancellor of Ambrose Alli University Ekpoma, Prof. Mrs. Eunice Omonzejie, acknowledged the numerous challenges the institution faces, including serious security concerns, dilapidated infrastructure, accreditation of courses, managing a growing student population, and addressing negative perceptions. However, she emphasized the administration’s commitment to overcoming these challenges and restoring the university’s former glory.
“My administration, backed by the Visitor and Governor of Edo State, Senator Monday Okpebholo, the Governing Council, Senate, Management, Staff, and Students, has declared a state of emergency on security and sanitation,” she stated. “We have received support from the Edo State government, including several materials such as automobiles, to enhance our security architecture.”
She further highlighted the urgent need to address the condition of student hostels, noting that the facilities were grossly inadequate, making hostel life less appealing to students. “We aim to address these issues dedicatedly and improve the overall experience for our students,” the Vice-Chancellor concluded.
