Governor Idris has called for a full investigation into the circumstances surrounding the withdrawal, stating that the state government had received intelligence reports on a planned attack and had convened a security meeting. The military was deployed, but they withdrew around 3 a.m., and the abduction occurred 45 minutes later.

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) President, Joe Ajaero, visited Governor Idris to express solidarity, describing the incident as “more than a mere coincidence”. The NLC has pledged to review its policies to support efforts aimed at securing schools and borders.

The Federal Government, led by President Bola Tinubu, has directed Vice-President Kashim Shettima to visit Kebbi and ensure the safe return of the abducted girls. The Minister of State for Defence, Alhaji Bello Matawalle, has also relocated to Kebbi to oversee the rescue efforts.

The abduction has sparked nationwide outrage, highlighting the ongoing insecurity in northern Nigeria, where schools have repeatedly been targeted by bandits. The incident has raised concerns about the safety of students and the effectiveness of security measures.
