The Aiguobasinmwin Movement Worlwide, a socio-cultural organization dedicated to promoting the interests of the Edo Nation, has expressed displeasure regarding the relocation of the National Health Insurance Authority’s (NHIA) South-South Zonal Office from Benin City to Port Harcourt by the Director, Mr. Obaro Ologbo.

This is contained in a press statement signed on behalf of the Movement by its President, Secretary-General and Diaspora Coordinator, Mr. Iyamu Osaro Culture, Mr. Uhunoma Ewere Lucky, Mr. Monday Ohuimumwen JP respectively and made available to journalists in Benin City, Edo State capital.
According to the Movement, “This reckless and selfish action untenable for an institution with over two decades of presence in Edo State to be relocated for the convenience of Mr. Obaro Ologbo. It is utterly unacceptable and demonstrates a lack of sensitivity when an appointed official like Obaro Ologbo, whose purpose of appointment is to serve his tenure but, now prioritizes his personal convenience over institutional interests by influencing the relocation of the Zonal Office to Port-Harcourt.”

While noting that the Director of NHIA, Mr. Obaro Ologbo doesn’t stay in Edo State and hasn’t been to work for the past 6 months, the Movement added that yet he is hatching plan to relocate government agency that he has selfishly ruined. “Regrettably, this act of unseriousness and dereliction of duty being exhibited by Mr. Obaro Ologbo has been a reoccurring decimal.

“Historically, Benin City was selected as the Zonal Office location twenty years ago due to its strategic administrative significance within the South-South zone, a decision grounded in principles of equity and fairness. Consequently, the internal memo dated February 4, signed by Director of Human Resources Halima Zakari, announcing the establishment of seven NHIA Zonal Offices nationwide with the South-South Zonal Office listed in Port Harcourt, is perceived as an affront to the Edo Nation and will be met with resistance.

“It is often said that, when a purpose of a thing is not known, certainly, abuse is inevitable. While we recognize the Authority’s right to restructure for efficiency, however, any decision of such magnitude must be guided by the principles of fairness, equity, and broad consultation, especially when altering existing zonal arrangements. That decision in itself is not in the powers of Mr. Obaro Ologbo to do/relocate an existing Zonal Office as an appointee. It is totally an abuse.

“With this objective in mind, we humbly request Mr. President, His Excellency Ahmed Bola Tinubu, the Governor of Edo State, Distinguished Senator Monday Okpebholo, Oba of Benin, Omo N’ Oba N’ Edo Uku Akpolo Kpolo Oba Ewuare II and all relevant authorities to take decisive action on this troubling matter while directing Mr. Obaro Ologbo to abandon all his selfish plans to relocate NHIA with immediate effect.

“Furthermore, we humbly call on President Ahmed Bola Tinubu to sack the Director of NHIA, Mr. Obaro Ologbo for dereliction of duty,” the Movement added.
