In a statement signed by Mr. Iyamu Osaro Culture – President, Mr. Uhunoma Ewere Lucky – Assistant Secretary and Mr. Monday Ohuimumwen JP-Diaspora Coordinator and made available to journalists in Benin, Edo State capital, the Mo ement noted that in as much as public commentary is welcome in a democracy but when commentary descends into senseless thought, exaggeration, repeated misrepresentation, and unverified allegations, it ceases to inform and begins to distract from genuine institutional progress.

According to the Movement, “Reform is rarely comfortable. It disrupts entrenched systems, demands accountability, and corrects inefficiencies. Those unsettled by meaningful change often respond with volume rather than verifiable facts.

“Despite strikes and harsh economic realities, the Professor Idia Nibokun Ize-Iyamu leadership under the UBTH-CARES agenda has recorded measurable progress, such as ‘commissioning of a 160-slice CT scan machine, significantly enhancing diagnostics in trauma, oncology, cardiology, and neurology, Strengthened clinical governance and improved service delivery structures and Institutional restructuring focused on transparency, financial discipline, and sustainability.’

Others are “Rehabilitation and modernization of critical hospital infrastructure and attraction of 2.5billion health training facility, Renewed commitment to patient-centered care and safety standards, Introduction of the Consumables Pack System to promote transparency, reduce resource leakage, and empower patients to monitor their care, Continuity of services amid industrial actions and operational disruptions and ilemployment: It is on record that Professor Idia Nibokun Ize-Iyamu broke the unemployment jinx in University of Benin within 100 days in office by securing and approving the employment of over 230 people in University of Benin Teaching Hospital and she also gave permanent jobs to casual staff that were working in University of Benin Teaching Hospital during the era of Professor Darlington Obaseki who is the paymaster of Uhundan Albert Obazee.”

The Movement who emphasised that the above are tangible achievements not slogans noted that the University of Benin Teaching Hospital really CARES under our illustrious Chief Medical Director, Professor Idia Nibokun Ize-Iyamu. “Make any body nor put their hands for her matter”

“It is also important to recall that UBTH has faced long-standing systemic challenges in the past, including financial strain and governance concerns. During those difficult periods, many of today’s loud critics like Albert Obazee maintained notable silence.

“Unlike when Professor Darlington Obaseki was the CMD of UBTH where federal programmes like CEMONC meant for under privileged patients were diverted for personal aggrandizement and also, job seekers/applicants offered money for employment, internship and admission but immediately Professor Idia Nibokun Ize-Iyamu came onboard, she abolished the sharp practices that were carried out by her predecessor.

“Notably, when Albert Obazee paymaster, Professor Darlington Obaseki served as Chief Medical Director of University of Benin Teaching Hospital, a period that attracted public criticism over administrative, financial and structural issues, Albert Obazee did not demonstrate the same level of vocal opposition he now displays. If concerns about institutional governance are truly rooted in principle, they must be expressed consistently, regardless of who occupies the office. Selective activism weakens credibility and raises legitimate questions about motive. This is our concern.

“The Doctors, Nurses, Pharmacists, Laboratory Scientists, Administrators, and Allied Professionals at UBTH continue to serve diligently under purposeful leadership of Professor Idia Nibokun Ize-Iyamu Portraying reform as chaos or restructuring as persecution does not reflect the reality on ground.”

The Movement further warned Albert Obazee to stay away from any matter that concern UBTH and it’s leadership.

“If there are concerns, the appropriate platform is open, dialogue grounded in verifiable facts not online theatrics from abroad. We are calling on Albert Obazee to present himself in Benin City to engage stakeholders directly rather than issuing reckless commentaries and threats from the United Kingdom. Interestingly, Albert Obazee deserve brain formatting and you shall get it anytime you step your foot on the red soil, Benin city.

“UBTH deserves thoughtful engagement, informed critique, and constructive support not distraction.”
