A gas tanker explosion on Saturday morning killed two people in the Ajah-Sangotedo area of Lagos State.
The explosion followed a collision between a truck and the gas tanker. The resulting inferno spread through the location and destroyed properties.
According to Ayo-Bankole Akintujoye, a convener of Lagos SME bootcamp, who wrote on X a few hours past midnight, “There’s a massive gas explosion in the Ajah area of Lagos happening now. Multiple properties have been affected, and situation is severe”.
When FIJ called the Lagos State fire service line on Saturday, a representative who identified herself as Temitope Adeleye said the situation was under control, but two people were dead as a result of the explosion.
She added that the response team was still at the scene, carrying out the necessary actions.
“Presently, we recovered two bodies, but we cannot give details now because we are still working. I think it is the tanker driver and the motor boy. The situation is under control now. We have one of our trucks there now that is still working,” Adeleye said.
