Edo PDP Expresses Strong Solidarity With Kabiru Turaki-led Leadership

…Says Party remains resolute, united, and committed to repositioning PDP for greater success

The Edo State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) under the leadership of Dr. Tony Azeigbemi, Chairman, on Tuesday expressed strong solidarity with the Party leadership led by Kabiru Tanimu Turaki (SAN), acknowledging ongoing efforts to navigate the Party through the present challenges.

This was stated in a communique issued at the end of an expanded State Executive Committee (SEC) held on the 24th of March at the party secretariat on Aiguobasimwin, GRA., Benin City, the state capital.

The communique read:

“The Edo PDP pledges its continued support and cooperation with the national leadership in all efforts aimed at strengthening and repositioning the Party.

“The Edo PDP acknowledges the existence of serious disagreements and internal challenges within the Party at the national level, particularly as they relate to the leadership structure and composition of the National Working Committee (NWC). However, the Party views these disagreements as part of the democratic process and expresses confidence that they can be resolved through dialogue, mutual respect, and strict adherence to the Constitution of the Party.

“The State Executive Committee assures all members that the leade:ship of the Party, both at the State and National levels, is actively working and enyzaying all relevant stakeholders to resolve the issues in a peaceful, lawful, and sustainable manner. The Edo State Chapter remains fully committed to supporting every genuine effort aimed at restoring stability, unity, and cohesion within the Party.

“The Party reassures all members and intending aspirants for the 2027 general elections that the PDP will continue to provide a credible platform for all positions. Therefore, Edo State PDP guarantees aspirants that the PDP would produce candidates for all positions, and that a level playing field and due process will be strictly upheld.

“The meeting expressed strong solidarity with the Party leadership led by Kabiru Tanimu Turaki (SAN), acknowledging ongoing efforts to navigate the Party through the present challenges. The Edo State PDP pledges its continued support and cooperation with the national leadership in all efforts aimed at strengthening and repositioning the Party.”

Going further, the communique added that “The Edo PDP reiterates its firm commitment to upholding party discipline, unity, and the core democratic values of the Party. Members are strongly urged to remain vigilant, loyal, and focused. and to refrain from actions or utterances capable of undermining the integrity and unity of the Party.

“The meeting commended members across the State for their enthusiasm, dedication, and active participation in the ongoing electronic membership registration exercise. This initiative is critical to strengthening the Party’s database, enhancing transparency, and improving internal administration. The Party encourages all members, supporters, and new entrants to take advantage of the exercise and ensure full participation across all wards and local government areas

“The SEC calls on all Party leaders at the State, LGA, Ward, and Unit levels to intensify grassroots mobilization and engagement. Strengthening the Party from the grassroots remains key to electoral success and long-term sustainability. Members are encouraged to actively promote the ideals and programmes of the Party within their respective communities.”

While acknowledging the current challenges at the national level, the Party expresses strong confidence in
its ability to overcome them through dialogue, discipline, and collective responsibility.

“Members are therefore encouraged to remain steadfast, optimistic. and committed to the ideals of the Party as we work together to restore the PDP to its pride of place as the foremost democratic platform in Nigeria”, the Party said.
