The Executive Governor of Edo State, Senator Monday Okpebholo has appointed Oladele Bankole-Balogun, a lawyer, and a former Federal Commissioner, Public Complaints Commission (PCC) as Chairman, Edo State Internal Revenue Board.

Bankole-Balogun’s appointment which is subject to confirmation by the state House of Assembly, was announced in a statement released by the Secretary to the State Government, (SSG) Musa Umar Ikhilor.

Governor Okpebholo also named Idiake Patrick Akhimien (representing Edo Central), Mike Ohio Ezomo (representing Edo North) and Jackson Eribo, an engineer, (representing Edo South) as executive directors of the board.

Born in 1961 into the illustrious family of the Late Chief Bankole Balogun of Igarra, Akoko-Edo local government area, Bankole-Balogun is a 1984 graduate of political science from the University of Ibadan. He bagged a first degree in Law (LLB Hons) from the University of London; and a postgraduate diploma in Law from the College of Law, Store Street, London.

Bankole-Balogun is a member, Law Society of England and Wales, Nigeria Bar Association, (NBA); International Bar Association and Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (UK). The appointee has a rich professional work experience in different spheres of human endeavours. At various times, he worked at Cadbury Nigeria Plc (1985-1989); Pfizer UK Sandwich Kent (1989-1994); Alphabet Group UK; Chairman Alphabet House Ltd; Director/Board Member, Allen Angus Resources Ltd; Chairman, Barking and Havering Hospital Trust Appointments Board; Principal Partner, Oladele Bankole-Balogun & Co.; Federal Commissioner, Public Complaints Commission (2012-2015) representing Edo State.

Politically, Bankole-Balogun was at various times, an aspirant and candidate for the House of Representatives election in Akoko Edo Federal Constituency and was recently a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Campaign Council for the September 21, 2024, governorship election in Edo State.
